In our four years of full-time travel we have tried out many types and brands of luggage in all shapes and sizes, from backpacks to rolling cases to duffel bags to a combination of all the above. We have found some winners and some back breaking losers and have finally settled into our comfort zone with our larger checked bags. However, finding a multi purpose carry-on bag that we love has been a struggle…until now. Here is our Cabin Zero luggage review after 3 months of use.
The new love of our luggage life is the 44L British made Cabin Zero bag. What makes them a winner in our books?
Well for starters they are super light weight and fit a ton of stuff which, for an over packer like me, are two essential details. You would think that after four years I would be a packing pro but I still seem to end up cramming in way more than I actually need and my Cabin Zero bag can handle it. Nathan on the other hand is a minimalist by nature and has room to spare when bringing just his Cabin Zero bag on a trip.
- Spacious 44L capacity
- Lightweight at just 760 grams
- At 55 x 40 x 20 cm it fits in any airline carry-on container
The Cabin Zero bags are also really well made of durable, high quality materials which is vital to frequent travelers like us. Our bags get thrown around at airports and train stations, crammed into bus cargo holds, set down on wet boat decks and thrown in the trunk of a car for road trips. Our bags need to be able to take a beating and still hold together.
- Waterproof polyester lining
- Lockable YKK zippers
- Thick padded shoulder straps
- Built-in Global Tracker, powered by Okoban
- 10-year warranty which increases to 25 years just for “Liking” Cabin Zero’s Facebook page
Last, but not least, is the fact that they look awesome! There are so many styles and colors to choose from you will definitely find something that suits your style perfectly. I have the Classic 44L in Mysore Red and Nathan has the Military 44L in Desert Sand and they are so us.
- Four standard styles: Classic, Military, Urban and Vintage
- 20 standard colors and prints
- Fun limited edition patterns
So far we have taken our Cabin Zero bags camping, on coastal a coastal road trip, on a ski trip and on weekend city getaways and have been thrilled with how they have carried our belongings and fetched compliments along the way. Next up will be to test them as carry-on bags on our flight to Europe and we will be sure to report back with how they did, although I think we already know we have a winner.

Eventually she found a way to earn a living doing what she loved: traveling, writing and capturing images of the wondrous world we live in. When not on the go Sarah enjoys time in her “sometimes home” of Vancouver.
