14 Fabulous Things to Do in Cabo San Lucas

Los Cabos is comprised of the two towns of Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo plus the 20 mile stretch of beach resorts that join them. The former is the more touristy of the two and therefore there are plenty of things to do in Cabo San Lucas, especially if you like outdoor activities and partying.

Located at the very tip of the Baja California Peninsula is the magic combination of desert and ocean offering all kinds of water and land sports and active pursuits. However, if you’re looking for down time on the beach the white sands and clear waters are also perfect for relaxing. When the days activities are over the party begins at any of the lively bars and restaurants in town and beachside.

If you’re looking for a combination of beach paradise, fun activities, good food, shopping, and a lively nightlife then Cabo San Lucas is a perfect vacation spot for you. There are also plenty of accommodations options in Los Cabos to suit all tastes and budgets.

1. Relax at Chileno Beach

Chileno beach is the perfect spot, with its calm, shallow waters and user-friendly amenities you can spend the whole day here with the family. It has an easy access paved parking lot to leave your rental car, onsite washrooms, and a change area to slip into some beach clothes. You might want to bring your own snorkel gear too, as the water is pristine for floating around spotting tropical fish.


2. Go Diving

With the temperate, clear, and calm waters around Cabo, it is an underwater playground teaming with fish and an abundance of sea-life. If you have never been diving before you can book yourself into a beginners course and learn the ropes. For those who have certified experience, you can hook up with one of the many PADI boats and get back into the water where you feel most at home.

3. Sunset Sail

The magic of a romantic sunset coupled with the elegance of a sailboat is the perfect combination to wind down an evening or get one started. These limited seating boats make for a great way to see Cabo from the sea. Onboard you can enjoy a liquid buffet of cocktails alongside other guests, while you are given some information on the history and landmarks of the area.


4. Explore Land’s End

This Arched natural formation is also a great place to see some of the areas most interesting wildlife. For birdwatchers, you can often see pelicans fishing the area, in the water you might catch a glimpse of a sea lion. Hop on a boat tour or kayak or SUP out to this pretty spot that is the most famous and visited place in the area, you’ll be happy you did.

7. Swim at Lover’s Beach

There will be plenty of boats going back and forth offering rides for about $10 return trip. Just down from Lover’s Beach is Divorce Beach where the water is very turbulent and not really safe for swimming.


8. Drink at Señor Frog’s

For memories blurred with green frogs and high-octane cocktails, you can hop on down to Señor Frog’s. An incredibly popular tourist stop on the margarita and taco circuit, here you can get your party on and take home the t-shirt to prove it. They even have nightly promotions and if you time it right, you can get tickets to one of their crazy glow parties.

With live music and a reputation to party all night long, this is your go to spot for all things entertainment in Cabo San Lucas. Great food, cold drinks, and an atmosphere that insures you have the Mexican vacation fiesta-feeling running through your veins. A stop here is a must for those who think they know tequila and want to prove it to one hundred of their newest friends.


10. Catch the Whale Migration

From roughly October to March thousands of Grey whales make their way around the Baja’s tip and many swim past the shores of Cabo and into the Sea of Cortez. On one of the many boat tours, or if you are lucky just by watching the water, you might be able to see these creatures of beauty enjoying their natural habitat.


11. Ride the Waves

If you are eager to get into the water and on to a board, you might want to check the area around Mile-17 on the Cabo Corridor. More of a spot for the experienced, the southerly swell is going to get you the best results from your time riding out around here.
